RetailCare’s InternCare interns, Lucy and David, recently reached their first checkpoint, sharing their key learnings, accomplishments, and project proposals as they begin the second half of their internship journey.

At RetailCare, we believe an internship should be more than simply gaining experience in a workplace. It should be an opportunity to learn, contribute, explore new ideas, and build the confidence and skills needed for what comes next.

On October 1, our current InternCare cohort reached an important milestone with their first checkpoint presentation, marking the halfway point of their internship journey with RetailCare.

Our Marketing Intern, Lucy, and Tech Intern, David, each presented their progress from the first half of their internship, sharing the key learnings, accomplishments, and experiences they have gained so far.

From Learning to Application

The first half of an internship is often about understanding how a business operates, getting familiar with a new working environment, and learning how to apply knowledge in a practical setting.

For Lucy and David, the checkpoint presentation gave them the opportunity to reflect on that journey and demonstrate how they have put their learnings into practice.

They shared the work they have completed, the skills they have developed, and the areas where they have grown throughout their time at RetailCare. More importantly, they presented their proposals for their InternCare projects, giving them an opportunity to take ownership of an idea and develop it into something they can work on during the second half of their internship.

The proposals presented were thoughtful, creative, and showed great initiative. We’re excited to see how these ideas develop and come to life over the next few weeks.

Preparing Interns for What’s Next

At RetailCare, we care about the growth of the interns who come under our supervision.

Our goal with InternCare is not simply to give interns a list of tasks to complete. We want to create an environment where they can learn through experience, contribute meaningful ideas, take initiative, and develop skills that they can carry into their future careers.

The midpoint checkpoint is an important part of that process. It gives our interns the opportunity to reflect on where they started, recognise what they have accomplished, and think about where they want to go next.

As they enter the second half of their internship, Lucy and David will have the opportunity to further develop their projects, put their proposals into action, and continue building on everything they have learned so far.

We’re looking forward to seeing their ideas take shape.

Continuing Our Partnership with Swinburne

We’d also like to extend our appreciation to Swinburne University of Technology for connecting us with talented interns and for our continued partnership.

A special thank you to Katie Eng for introducing us to this batch and helping connect Lucy and David with the RetailCare team.

Partnerships like these allow us to create meaningful opportunities for students to gain practical experience while bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas into the workplace.

We’re proud to be part of their professional journey and look forward to supporting them through the remainder of their InternCare experience.

Well done, Lucy and David, on reaching your first checkpoint!

Here’s to the second half of the journey, and to turning those great ideas into reality.
