What is Delivery Platform Integration?

Also known as: Uber Eats integration, DoorDash POS integration, third-party delivery tablet

Delivery platform integration connects third-party marketplaces, such as Uber Eats and DoorDash, to a venue's POS. Orders flow directly into the POS and kitchen rather than arriving on a separate tablet that staff re-enter by hand.

The platform sends each order through an API or an integration partner. The POS maps platform menu items and modifiers to its own, accepts or rejects the order, routes it to the kitchen and records the sale. Menu and availability changes can sync back, such as marking an item sold out. Direct integrations are not always available for every platform or POS, and some use an aggregator in between, which adds cost. Ask for a list of supported platforms and any monthly integration fees before committing.

QSRs, cafes and restaurants use integration to cut double handling, reduce errors and see all channels in one report. It also supports accurate stock use and lets owners compare real margins once platform commissions are included.

Check which platforms your POS supports, how modifiers and prices map, and whether menu changes sync both ways. Platform commissions and marketing fees can be high, so reporting should show net revenue by channel. Know what happens if the link fails, and have a manual process.

Integration saves labour and reduces order mistakes, and it gives a true view of delivery profitability.
